"I have always believed in hope - hope means that life can be better. Your past does not equal your future. Simply put, you do not have to remain in the box that you were shipped in. You can have a new life - starting today."   -Bill Turner

"Bill is the best kind of teacher--the kind who delivers the most profound truths in a way that makes them accessible without being watered down.  Bill's use of humor, stories, visualizations, and personal anecdotes makes it easy to follow even the most complex and challenging concepts."

"I would describe Bill's style as that of an instructor with a preacher's oratory. He combines information with relevant examples, humorous highlights and insightful parallels. Often ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, Bill takes advantage of every device in his verbal inventory to assert, explain, illustrate, compare, contrast, twist and turn every facet of a point until not only anyone can understand, but also that everyone understands."

There is More Than That!

So you want to know one of the big secrets of becoming enlightened? You may find it surprising that I’m not  going to ask you to learn more by filling your intellect with additional information. Instead, I’m going to have you do just the opposite. First, imagine your soul as a box. Now imagine that all the stuff you have believed, felt, and thought about throughout your life are in the box. Next, turn the box upside down and allow all of the “stuff” to fall out. As you turn the box upright, notice what’s left, because that is the most important. That’s right, the secret that I’m sharing with you is about the process of unlearning. As you learn to let go of your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, and feelings, you will find your True Self.

It might surprise you to find out that your perception of the world is mostly inaccurate. As a young child and as you grew older, you were likely taught by people who had only developed their five senses and were aware of only the physical reality of life. Likely your current beliefs and perspectives are based on these earlier ideas and concepts: you utilize your five senses to perceive the world and then store your thoughts and perceptions as reality. Most of us are willing to fight to the death to prove our version of reality is true. As we hold tightly to our perceptions, we expend a lot of energy to stay stuck. But no matter how much energy we spend, our perceptions will never be any more accurate.

When you are ready to admit that your perceptions might not be reality, then you are ready to embark on the process of unlearning which will be a life changing experience. The first step in this process is to take a little hammer and whack on the side of your perception hard enough so that there is a crack. I invite you to do this to all of your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and perceptions. Why?—because more than that is true. While we have very sensitive physical senses, our spiritual senses have not been developed yet. But now, I invite you to move into a new dimension and where you willingly put cracks in your perceptions so that your light of Divinity can shine through.

As long as you think, this is how I see the world and this is all the world is, your perception is missing something. You must be willing to unlearn, walk through some chaos, and see life in a brand new way. You must be willing to see the physical reality and the spiritual reality at the same time. Let’s try a simple exercise: hold up your hand in front of you with your fingers open wide. Now hold up your other hand about four inches above the hand already in front of you. First, focus on the hand closest to you. Next, focus on the hand that is more distant. Finally, move both hands a little, just slightly back and forth, and you can see details of both hands at the same time. What if you could experience life like that? Your awareness would include the physical experience and the spiritual perspective at the same time.

Here are some practical examples that show how a dual awareness would manifest. How would your life be different if you look in your checking account and find only 37 cents, but then you look into the spiritual reality and see the vision of infinite abundance! If you could live life from that dimension, wouldn’t your life be different? Or, what about if you have an argument with someone you love and at the same time experience the unconditional love of God? Wouldn’t it be difficult to keep the argument alive in the awareness of absolute love? Or what about if your body has the flu and at the same time you experience your body as absolutely perfect and healthy? Because we don’t naturally do this, we have to unlearn.

It has been said that two galaxies could pass through one another and nothing be disturbed. Most of what is, is nothing. And most of what we think, is nothing. But, we think it is something—and we hold to it, grasp it, and cling to it. We resist anything that threatens our beliefs. But as we unlearn, our world begins to dissolve and we really see things—as they are physically and as they are spiritually. We can live in both worlds at the same time. In fact, your job is to live in the two worlds at the same time. You are a multi-dimensional being and when you can look at both dimensions and live in both worlds, then you can tap into Spirit and bring it into your daily life.

Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is all around you but men see it not.” The process of awakening is about unlearning everything that you’ve been taught. But how do we do this? After everything that you speak, say, “There is more than that.” When you consider a belief, remember, “There is more than that.” When you experience feelings, repeat, “There is more than that.” When you encounter perceptions, know, “There is more than that.” No matter what you are thinking, perceiving, feeling, or believing, you realize “There is more than that.” We want to move beyond thinking that only the material world is real. With this realization, you are no longer held hostage by your thoughts and feelings. You are free.

Habitual use of the phrase, “There is more than that,” will put cracks in your perception and remind you that your thoughts are inaccurate, allowing your Light to begin to shine through. When we are driving with our perceptions, thinking we are accurate, then our inherent Divinity doesn’t have a place to shine through. So take the hammer and whack your thoughts and beliefs; they will weaken and Spirit will become more evident.

Enlightenment is not about learning more, but turning your box upside down and allowing all of your misperceptions to fall away. When you turn it right-side up, you’ll find that what is left is Spirit. Now you can begin to live in two worlds at the same time!
